WHO warns of Angola's yellow fever urban risk

The World Health Organisation has once again warned that Angola is facing a yellow fever risk.

The organisation said people with the greatest risk are those in urban areas.

All travellers to Angola have been advised to make sure that they are vaccinated before visiting the country.

WHO says this will prevent the further spread of the epidemic.

So far no travel restriction has been recommended.

The yellow fever epidemic which erupted in December last year has affected about 2,000 people killing 258 others.

The outbreak has extended to other countries in Africa and Asia.

A large scale vaccination had been launched in February and targeted about 7 million people.

The WHO believes that targeted vaccination, global vaccine supplies, disease surveillance and vector control will be helpful in stopping the epidemic.
